Written informed consent was obtained from 152 Japanese HD patients with SHPT. Of these, 15 were judged to be ineligible for enrollment, and a total of 137 patients were enrolled in the present study to receive oral administration of evocalcet (Fig. 1B). The demographics of the enrolled patients are presented in Table 1. Of the 137 patients, 81 were male and 56 were female with a mean (SD) age of 60.3 (10.3) years. Of the 137 patients enrolled, 24 patients (17.5%) discontinued treatment and 113 patients (82.5%) completed the study up to week 52 (Fig. 1B). Of the 137 patients participating, evocalcet was taken as prescribed each day (adherence rate) 99.1 ± 2.2% of the time.
